Laura Weinberg was elected Mayor of Golden in 2019. She previously served as the Ward 4 City Councilor elected in 2013 and re-elected in 2017. "I am proud of my record as Mayor including responding to the COVID 19 crises as a city, working with the community to recover and thrive, and also moving forward key projects and programs. Golden is thriving and I am excited to keep working for an even better future."

Mayor Laura believes in a strong community which is why she works on more than just city government business. She has been a leader in our neighborhood schools, community organizations, and with the local, business community. 

Background and Education:

Mayor Weinberg grew up in South Florida and moved to Providence, RI to study Public Policy and Organizational Behavior and Management at Brown University. She worked in Chicago before moving to Denver in 1998 and Golden in 2007.


Mayor Weinberg received her MBA with an IT specialization from the University of Denver and worked in systems analysis for organizations from global financial corporations to local, start-up businesses. She currently works for local, small businesses and values the community connections. Mayor Laura and her husband Mike have two daughters growing up with the high-quality schools, parks, library, and programs that are so important to making Golden such a wonderful place for families.
